Dead Poets Society except that Jack Black teaches privileged school children about rock and roll.
On paper, I don’t think it’s clear that this movie would work at all (the lead role in particular could easily have ended up very unlikable), but Jack Black’s genuine charisma carries it through to the end.
Simple though it may be, School of Rock is a feel-good movie with a real heart. You know it has to come to an end, but you don’t want it to.
